EIC ( Exercise Induced Collapse), a rare recessive gene must be present in both parents resulting in  25% of the offspring will be affected.  After about 15 minutes of heavy exercise such as hunting, field trials, or hunt test the dog collapses.  This collapse can happen to a pet playing fetch in the "back yard".  EIC can be  fatal.

CNM  (Centronuclear Myopathy)  Another rare genetic ailment

caused by a recessive gene in both parents.  At 4-5 months of age

the puppy's muscles stop growing; however the skeleton continues to grow.  The young pup becomes totally spastic and must be put down. Sometimes a mild case exists and a Lab will survive; but surely a heart rendering situation.
